K...May 24th is the date I go into an Overwatch coma. See you on the other side. EDIT: oh wait. I pre-ordered. I get Beta access on May 3rd. That'll be a practice coma then... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKv-GSArdPY
It's good practice to triangulate before baking and to use that same triangulated mesh in-game. The reason is because every engine has a different method of triangulation and because the data in a tangent normal map is calculated to a specific mesh topology any change in topology(triangulation) will lead to artifacting.
True. I still think object space looks great though, and it's really easy to bake (saving time). I have personally stopped using them in my portfolio for the sake of practicing tangent space, but... visually, on uniquely detailed props, object space wins.
I will be canceling my Rift account. I refuse to give any money to the executives and producers of companies that partake in the "Hire and Fire" practice. I wish everyone the best of luck, I don't think this will be the only round of Layoffs we see from them either.
Ravanna: I do some of both, in Zbrush I do the deep scratches and nicks/chunks instead of in PS, mostly because I have more fun in Zbrush! But I will paint in more afterwards. I'm not sure if this is good practice or not. Can anyone else chime in?
Completely agree. Totally redundant. Who cares if you model a women with a distended stomach?? As long as you're not putting her in an FPS and using her for target practice I can't see why anyone would care. Hah that's hilarious, have you got pics?
Below is a painting that I did for practice. I wanted to try some custom brushes and see if I could get a more painterly appearance. It's still really rough, but I do like the brushes that I used. Maybe I'll tool around with them more.
On the bottom of the picture it says 2700 tris and it's supposed to be for a hack and slash RPG. I believe it's a bit on the higher side for a top down rpg, but I know it's for practice, but it's a great model nonetheless. Only real crit I've got really is the muscles as well I think.
Congrats greentooths (greenteeth?) lol This community is an excellent nurturing centre for new talent, and a great repository for practicing artists. That's what makes it so wonderful. Well done to all admin staff and contributors! Note to self - get something on the WAYWO thread soon you pussy.
This has the potential to look really awesome, but as others have said I'd spend some time studying other guns and thinking about the practicality a bit more. I think the bolt handle should be thicker and I personally don't like the indented knurling on the front.
