[ QUOTE ] ...I think too many people just draw something and go "Oh, this looks cool, that's enough!" ... but if you get to that stage and then ask a couple of quick questions about the character, and apply that to the design, you often find it can be pushed further and become something more than the sum of it's parts. +1 I'll also add my input/thoughts. I'm also currently working on my portfolio, and to begin with I was going to concept the whole thing, every single piece, by myself. But after some consideration I came to the conclusion that it was a positive thing to work from other's concepts. Yeah, i know portfolios are a chance to…
@Calabi It's actually an artifact detector. :) If you find an anomaly, you can pull out your artifact detector and (carefully) pick your way through the anomaly looking for the artifact. You can't see it until you're right on top of it. And yep, this game is very unforgiving, but if you carefully loot other Stalker's…
In the US, "professionals" are exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. "Professional" usually means manager or you had to get degrees and certifications to do your job but I found this snippet on a website: "Some employees may also perform "creative professional" job duties which are exempt. This classification applies…
na not me, maybe the company that wants to hire me. This is just exercise and fun for me. I remember some of your track and car low poly models - it would be nice at some point to compare those or use them as reference in the engine. Just to see how other styles and polycounts work out in the engine. Other than that please…
Haven't played it. Looking at it, and hearing people talk about it, makes me want to buy a PS3. It's one of the first and very few games that actually made me think it'd be worth buying the console for. The graphics aren't that busy. It's sort of like Gears of War. I thought that looked kinda bad, until I actually played…
I generally agree with the others who have already commented here.. Technical skill is important, but it is only as important as your art skill. What I mean is that the technical side of the game industry is there to make the graphics look good at the end of the day. If your art is good in regardless of how you got to it…
[ QUOTE ] It's still early days though, I don't think we've seen enough yet to make any absolute statements like 'uber-shit' while something is in production. [/ QUOTE ] Quoted for truth. Every one of us who works in a creative field knows what it's like to have his work judged before it's complete. Nothing agitates me…
I've also been playing it since beta, I think it was Feb. 2003. Back then the lands were empty. Actually, I took a break until they gave me one of those lifetime subscription things. My gf joins in with me sometimes. My little brother is addicted to the new Teen Grid. I jump in now and then. Watch movies. Find a live…
Good job! One thing I would consider is the color pallet in relation to your 3d work. I think desaturating the hair would help out a lot; I've observed that realistic 3d often avoids those saturated colors, and would often rely on values to manipulate the coloring. Take FF7's remake for example, Aerith(the girl) in the…
