Thinking of taking on something more organic and natural for my next project. A small vignette with a broken tree and some rocks. I've Got a couple of techniques in mind I want to play around with. Started roughing out a bark substance for the non-unique elements of the tree. Doing this bit first so I can have the height…
Good color choices so far! 3 looks the strongest to me so far. Personally, I think that the gold could be a touch more vibrant. The other deep sea skins also have a lot of black elements- maybe play with using black/ dark dark blue as an accent color instead of the teal to make her seem more from the trenches of the deep.…
When I use this script to make a screenshot, I also make a copy of the material and set all the diffuse components to fully self-illuminated white, and make the background black. You can then just swap between the two materials whenever you need to re-render. You can also just render a proper alpha, using the render…
I like the idea. Concept looks really nice and solid, although maybe there is something that can be added - holy book connected to his belt on one side to break the symmetry - order seal on his breastplate or shoulder pad - yellow elements on helm or helm vizier to maintain yellow color of his head from top view -weapon…
Thanks dude I appreciate it! I am glad that you like it :) I agree with you, I've been thinking its missing something and I think you're exactly right that it's feeling a little sparse. Need to add some extra bits to really make it feel like it's lived/worked in and people are actually using it every day. Also it is pretty…
It's quite a difficult problem because it needs to be high performance, and doesn't allow for a static world structure which is what most engines are optimized towards. A Minecraftish "poxel" (objects generated from voxels) approach would probably be best, but is crazy heavy on both memory and requires frequent geometry…
I haven't done an enormous amount of previz, but I can give you a rough idea. It'll vary depending on the studio, where they're at in the project and what exactly they need. It'll quite likely be animatic assets they're after - low res models that give an accurate sense of shape and dimensions of elements in a scene that…
thank you Muzz! I worked on these the past 2-3 weeks on and off, and you're right I do need to plan these better before starting them, now with a fresh eye I agree the storytelling aspect in each of these is very vague. I would love a paintover!, maybe on how to make the form/structure better for the female warrior lying…
Find a good picture of a zergling or such and open it up in photoshop. Start using the eyedropper to pick colors--brush a bit onto a new layer. Keep eyedropping colors and building your palette until you got a lot of good bases. Then, take your colors, and start painting! GREAT SUCCESS! Also note where colors work--green…
Here's a crazy rough paintover I did today made specifically to help me brainstorm and visualize what she could look like in color =) The actual mesh will be MUCH better, so dont worry ahhahaha! It's a bit messy, but I wanted to make sure the purpose of this was to nail down all the iconic elements we recognize as "Devil…
