Since your used to UDK I guess your familiar with tiling textures? Id go that way judging from the info you provided. Break the tiling up with vegetation and decals. Good luck!
I think the architecture looks great, I would like to see some vegetation though, plants, trees, and maybe even a koi pond to really sell the theme. Keep up the good work!
setting the material to some self illumination also helps a big deal. have a look at the whole crysis vegetation stuff - they also have some models for max in their mod sdk as far as i know.
Definitely challenging to do good trees and vegetation in general. I don't yet have any experience with trees so I probably will learn SpeedTree when it comes to that for the scene I am doing.
If you're going for an empty room post defeat, maybe add some creepers and some subtle vegetation like moss etc? Maybe part of a banner on the floor in a heap, some broken torch-holders...
Silhouette of large mtn in 2nd image looks a little unrealistic. Otherwise seems like a good basis for adding vegetation. Hard to critique a barren land, so keep going and post your progress.
CRYENGINE. They need to be welded otherwise they won't work with it's "automerge" system, which basically is a feature that merges all vegetation into large groups saving lots of drawcalls. Only 1 element is supported per object.
Beautiful landscapes :) > Moving from CE to UE Maybe When used a lot of vegetation, "FPS value" is very lowering Anyway, good atmosphere The area "sheep" is possible habitat? I will prepare plans to model
looks fun..episode one didnt entice me much either..but it looks like its finally out-of-the-city-and-into-the-woods with this one... I'm eager to see how vavle handles forestry/vegetation....
Sadly there are very few good vegetation tutorials. The best one i have in mind is the one at 3Dmotive.com... It's one of those subjects everyone wanna know how to do better but no one wants to make a tutorial..
