Thanks guys. I can see how this is basically a simple formula, but I'm still not sure what or how to calculate and apply it...... the object I'm building and texturing is a static prop (vehicle), it's dimensions are: length:512 units (1 unit = 1 cm), and width and height both: 256 So the object, at 512 width x 256 height…
I vote 'no', simply because I think that designing is a huge part of the Dominance War; I've always found it to be more fun than the modeling and texturing. It's great to visit Polycount every day during the concepting phase and seeing a hundred people ask opinions on their concepts - half of which were magic gloves last…
I find the polycount forums pretty good for pure art techniques, but game programmers don't really talk here about their engine tech. I like to listen in on these lists. A lot of it goes over my head, but now and then there are some great insights. They have searchable archives too.…

Finally, some nerd talk, haha. A few things I should mention is the computer has been used by me alone for around 2 years (its the 2008 model). So its using the Quad core xeons that dont support hyperthreading or anything. I usually try and get a new system every 2 years if it will be fast enough to justify the price. Also…
Alright, cleaned up the lines everywhere now (Im at 13k polys on it now, compared the the waste it originally was). At least I think everything else is cleaned up. Alright, I figuered Id fix the unraps now and so on, unless anything else could be suggested for the design before I get any further.
