Modern houses do have certain parts in common. For example most builders will use pre-existing windows to create houses and floor plans will be designed around pre-built windows. here's an existing catalog of window sizes from a certain manufacturer:…
Well, modular parts look fine. Polycount is fine as well, as long as the modular parts have proper LODs and LOD away most of the detail. Especially if you have decent culling in the game as well, then that could mean that half of the building wouldn't even be showing if you're on one side of it. Or most of the building…
It's not just a race track, it's landscapes too & when you're making many tracks/environments it becomes lots of tedious work that I assumed might of been automatically solved via a script. What do you mean, for the kind of system I'm using it's not good to have too many parts? The way I was lead to believe and the way I…
Thanks for the feedback. I was working with mudbox for the sculpt. And I find it hard to get really sharp edges, they always seem to be a little bit too round to be a perfect rock sculpt. But I guess thats just a matter of practise and checking out how other people do it. For the blurry parts, I think it's because I used…
Here's an actual link to the tutorial since OP won't properly link it, and I see why http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpGPWKO0YZ2NSLTx-60r41XOxguRrgSbe Ok this is bad. Everyone, this is an 18 HOUR, 92 part video tutorial for a ~1 hour asset, at beginner quality. I agree with AzzaMat that the outcome is not good enough…
Hey guys, I did a quick screenie of the LP without any instancing or duplication so you can all see what everything looks in the most basic state as well as paintover to show unique UV's and duplicated parts on the mesh. Everything highlighted in red has unique UVs, everything in orange has unique UV's and is a separate…
Had to to completely scrap the initial frame I had (the part that connects with the suspension). As I was beginning to build more parts I noticed, pieces were not fitting or making sense with the old frame, namely when I started working on a piston for the front blade. I just assumed the CAT D9's frame would be similar…
Do you mean explode by moving the individual parts out so the baking knows what detail to use instead of accidently catching details from other parts? cause usually that works for me and then i make sure the bake isnt shooting rays too far out to catch unwanted details. to make sure my low and high poly match i usually…
Sometimes you can accidentally create some "illegal meshes" with faces with no edges, or different verts with same ID's. And the file will work until you try to edit one of these elements. If you can merge the model into a blank scene you can try converting it to edit mesh and then back to edit poly to see if some part…
So what I did was use a new cylinder with the same amount of side to stencil through the mesh, creating the edges, however this seemed to make it worse. So I'll leave it how it is for now. The only significant pieces I have yet to model are the wooden parts seen in this image: excluding the shoulder rest part, as I already…
