Pretty good for your first highpoly :) Although I find the renders horrible to look at, I would first change to background from black to more neutral grey or even a subtle gradient, after that you can take a look on the wiki page lots of good info here http://wiki.polycount.com/Model Presentation On the model it self good…
1. I see what you both mean, the skull needs more work, and I agree the transition from the flat side to the blade is to soft. 2. I don't know honestly, as I was modeling it I was thinking of how I wanted to do it. When I got to the checkerboard part I thought it "might" be interesting to indent it in, giving the feel of a…
thanks for the tips. allthough I already have tried or already using em. I find the wacom too sensitive/jitterish to model with it comfortably. I got a MS Natural keyboard and a MS mouse with a soft mousewheel so I doubt it's the mousewheel. It's just annoying and time consuming when I try to fill in the diffuse-texture…
You have a nice concept and block out, but i feel you are rushing to get it HP to much, get the shapes right, for example front grip in the concept is rounded underneath where as yours is very blocky, i dont know if you plan on adding the "barel holes" in the model or on the norms but it sure would look slick with them…
Use Window>Settings/Prefs>Hotkey Editor. You can get the command name for anything via the Script Editor (click the box in the very bottom right to pop it up). Check History>Echo All Commands, then click on the menu item you want the name for. In this case, we might get "polySoftEdge -a 0 -ch 1 pCube1.e[1];" but we don't…
Starting a still life everyday type of thing. I spent 30minutes on this painting specifically trying to get the feel of everything. As you can see my brush strokes are still very muddy and have not been able to figure out what might be causing that. I have pen pressure on but, would have to press pretty hard just to get…
good point. in this case i was kinda uncertain what i wanted those materials to be. i started with soft cloth type of material but later went in a more leathery direction. for now i don't have time to improve this piece but if you have any references for properly defined fantasy clothing that would certainly help. i…
I think your low-poly cliff is just too low poly. Include more definition with the silhouette of the cliff like in your high-poly and then you could break it up a little with some smaller rock meshes. The high-poly could also use some Trim Dynamic and whatnot, as it's looking a little soft and like putty. :) Check out some…
Painter itself can handle smoothing information just fine. The problem is in the baking because for every hard edge/smoothing group you need to have a separate UV shell. Otherwise you get the baking errors which is apparently what's happening on your mesh. More info is in the wiki. Farfarer was indeed referring to the…
Hey Taka007, the sculpt is looking really nice so far, so good job there! How small is the print going to be? When sculpting for print you have to take size and thickness into account; the smaller the print the more relief and thickness the sculpt needs. Let's say we go with an average miniature figure height of 28mm(1.1…
