Max's snapping is pretty good. Just takes some getting used to as poopipe mentioned. I beef up my snapping tools with the free WallWorm tools. The Nudge tools are EXTREMELY useful. rodpv had excellent suggestions. I would also add, the titles of all your pieces read to me as uncaring. Call each piece what they are not "Just an XYZ." Pick a top tier artist and try to match that work and quality. You are nearly there, keep at it.

Uv coord are no different mathematically than world coords or for that matter, colors. They're all vector values. So you can use world coords for a texture because xyz is analogous to uvw. The scaling factor is as sprunghnt mentioned it sizes the texture sample to 1/64world units wide and tall.
