Hey everyone, my name's Greg, and with a couple other people I'm working on a cartoonish iPad mini golf game called Mosaic Mini Golf. It is set on a cute island with a number of very different environments. The development is rather advanced but lately with have hit a road block with the art direction. :( Basically we have…
You'll have a hard time trying to convince me that their claims aren't biased and they aren't lying to other devs, they're lying to general public in order to sway public opinion of the uninformed (i.e. congress). The GAO showed that the MPAA was lying about their numbers, how are the game industry publishers any…
I only dealt with the web interface once, and that was a rather cumbersome experience. I'm not in the US or EU so I get the feeling the thing was biased towards me ;) The client itself scans your computer and submits not clearly specified data to EA. To me that doesn't make it any better than let's say Bonzi Buddy. I'm not…
Alright, just tried it - it's actually even more useful than I expected ! Now of course the excitement of trying such a fresh new tool might be making me a little biased, but so far I really like how the horizontal and vertical lines force me to check the correct alignement of features at all times. "Taking a step back"…
[ QUOTE ] Why don't 3d programs have a universal UI? [/ QUOTE ] What do you think they're selling? =P Wouldn't work anyway. See the "hidden maya features" thread and imagine that ninety five percent of a program was "hidden" because there's no place in your .uui file for those features . The fact is that Max and Maya do…
Ok, so here's the deal: I've removed any and all posts made by John or Mitch, and any that mentioned Activision. Do not PM or IM me asking me why, it won't be mentioned so save your energy. Secondly, it is with regret that I removed those posts. IMO it's a service to every professional out there to hear first-hand…
I disagree. For the sake of argument lets say this becomes only content based relating to our industry in some way. How would you make friends? Liking or disliking someones work in pimping or previews, while someone helping you in tech. Thats great. But thats NOT making discussion about what you share/don't. In doesnt…
I actually caved to the pressure of everyone else telling me to go for a "stable job." So now I'm a few months out of college with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, and I'm dreading the next few years of my life. Always go with your gut if it's telling you something's not right for you. I am learning that the hard way,…
Here we have Pillar 1, with base colors and AO only. Spec and Normal included. The metal dressings are untextured as of yet. Here is Pillar 1 and Pillar 2, to scale. Both are base diffuse textures with AO only. Spec and Normal included. Here we have my water plane with a bunchof cool features like real-time reflections,…
You could turn off dithering in your gradient tool, but you're still going to get artifacts like banding. No way to avoid this with 8-bit source. Think about it, only 256 levels of gray. If you have a 256-wide bitmap, and you fill it with a 0-black to 255-white gradient, then there should be no dithering or banding. But if…
