Wow these are fantastic. I wish I could get results like this out of Quixel. I'm getting there but clearly I must practice more! The application of accumulated dust is a really good selling point.
Pencils done for concussion grenade, and now will go into color in PS. My line work still needs some practice but I'm pretty happy with the outcome. After all, not everyone can be Feng Zhu.
I'm contemplating on trying to write a script for this in Maya to speed up the process and add more control. Mostly for me to practice writing MEL, but also to make something which others might actually use.
I confirmed with a rendering programmer at work, Crysis does indeed delete one of the channels, I think this is pretty common practice. Doesn't the blue channel get regenerated at run time by the shader or something?

You should really listen to them; half the tris and texture map size? You should really put that into practice. And ditch those cylinders that look like rivets or whatever, do them with normals...
If you need a perfectly smooth line you could just use the bezier tool to plot a curve then throw a stroke on it. Otherwise, like Ceebee said, use your elbow. These things come with practice.
Had a go at sculpting it. Still struggling with zbrush. I'll get there eventually :D Not sure if people would find a sword appropriate for Skywrath but I am enjoying just getting some more practice in.

well i guess i just have to get used to the controls and practice alot. I just hoped there was some some magic device that made everything easier ;P well onto the doodles then!
