There's a setting in the 'bump' node in maya that you need to select called something like "Tangent space" But i suspect your problem is in the normal map itself since it's allegedly also happening in unreal. Show your textures and people will be better able to help.
For comparative purposes - here's the two cows from UT and the original UT cow with the back-pack added. The UT99 cow was simply the cow from Unreal with new UVW's, new animations, and the turbo-backpack. If anything, the original skin had more detail.
Not bad for your first model. It's much better than my first, and I did that at 20, unless you count the BSP level I did way back in Unreal Tournament, which, would have been.. well, a long time ago.
yes please do iterate on the lighting fix with the shrubs. I am having the same problem, lol. Also, this scene is looking great. is that unreal terrain that you are using? If so, how high are the terrain setting to get such nice shadows like that in the UDK?
Started putting the assets in unreal with a basic lighting setup, very inspired by some mass effect references. Still have to texture and detail the room (floor, roof, walls) and add some more detail to the props. @Linkiel Loving that scene so far!
SubDivision surfaces become triangles in most render engines; if you are strictly talking about Unity or Unreal; I'm unfamiliar with those. Although unless you are creating still, even then I would suggest quad, nGons simply can cause problems.
So 2% cheaper for non-unreal engine games, 3% more expensive for UE4 games (after adding the 5% royalty/discount). I wonder if developers will consider adding games to Discord for 15% cheaper than Steam, and if that will attract more consumers.
This is tough, Scalefrom can't get certain information from unreal easily. It might be easier to use http://www.hourences.com/tutorials-ue3-kismet-interface/ instead. There are tutorials for it too and it's very straightforward. It's all kismet and can access informatoin like HP and ammo.
Context. Use it. the rest of that sentance, is "reguardless of feasability." I want an unreal 3 quality model from a 14 year old, that I'm paying five dollars, who is using milkshape and a toaster. Since I'm the client, I must be right of course.
Hey Lear, awesome awesome work man. I was just wondering if you could post your shader setup in unreal, I'm really liking how your in-game screenshots turn out, more so the spec. Awesome job man :)
