Dido on everything Raul has said and showed you how to do... Something I noticed that he didn't mention, is notice the glass and the box are separate. There is a seem all along the edges. So either make the glass piece separate from the box and extrude those edges more in... or take that seem you got and extrude that…
In regards to the heat shield, I've extruded some faces outward to create thickness but in modo it creates open edges where as in maya I can extrude a face to create a solid box I wonder if anyone can help me with this? Also how would I low poly somthing like this?
Good point! :) I'll make it more narrow. I like how the extrude works in the realtime so I won't get rid of that (anyway that will save me ~20 tris which is just 600 tris less a second for the engine to render). The idea to extrude it more is nice. I'll definitely try that! :) Thanks.
OK, im doing the dozer tutorial, author just loves just inset function of his and in one moment I wasn't able to replicate the effects on my model maya. He chose the entire side of the mesh and made an inset. It's sharp and looking good. In maya, I tried the same with extrude and got ugly result. Tweaking with extrude…
If you're trying to extrude the profile along the curve you can just, fill the hole, select the face and hit extrude, as schmidt said. But i'm guessing you're attempting to repeat the object along the curve? maya afaik doesn't have an inbuilt tool for it like max. iirc there's a hacky method where you use motion paths in…
Yeah I don't think there's a modifier that can do what you want. Basically the easiest thing to do is to remember how far out you extruded/beveled the teeth (or measure it) and then create a copy and extrude it inwards by negative the amount. Then you could grab all the faces and flip the normals if that's what you're…
i usually create a curve with cv curve tool and a nurbs circle and then go surfaces > extrude. i have extrude set at: tube at path component profile normal curve range: complete output geomtery: polygons tess meth: control points then you will be able to control the mesh with your curve. hope that helps
Does anyone know how extruding from curves works properly in xsi? I draw out my curve and try to extrude that curve. I cant figure out how to make the curve smaller like i can in max. In max i can make it round or rectangular etc inside max but dont know how to accomplish this in xsi. Thanks
I am wondering if it is possible to twist a brush drawn out with Curve mode? Maya has a similar function when you extrude a face along a curve then you can adjust the twist of the extruded Segment. I know in zbrush you can use the Size and Curve falloff to taper the curve. But surely there must be a way to apply a twist?…
Assuming swordslayer does the same thing I do in my single modifier version of this he's at the mercy of what max does when you extrude faces as part of edit poly. Fixing UVs on extruded faces is a whole other project and given that this is intended to be a tool for quickly bevelling shit geometry it seems a little outside…
