Here's one of the first assignments for my Game Art I course. I decided to do lava environment diorama. The crystals were an altered mesh from a collegue of mines, Ryan Sweeny.
Day 25 - Angular For today's prompt I wanted to try and create a stylized crystal material. I was a little shorter on time than usual so I did the best I could.
I'm really impressed on how much unique architecture and detail you squeezed into these while still keeping it pretty much crystal clear. Ice morpheus is cool but this is something special on it's own. :thumbup:
Haha, awesome. I nice take on my crystal monster, a lot more fleshy and gruesome. My original is geometric, cold and emotionless. original: And while I'm at it an older but favourite sketch of mine.
Touched up a loop animation I did some time back. Now with improved FX and a bit more glow rendering to sell the FX more :) Asamiya Athena's Shining Crystal Bit!
OVerall reads is flat. The crystal blade could use a lot more variance and contrasts to make it pop more. And having it an animatable material would definitely help it. What were you using as a refernce for this?
This is my progress over the past two days. I'm still a little unsatisfied with the crystals, but I'll rework them eventually later. Also, the lighting turned out to better than I thought.

The large green crystal is looking pretty sweet, and I agree; you need to add some black into there. In your original concept, the rocks were black, so that'd be a good place to start.
So unable to test my Luna in game I had a sad, then was like ZZzzzzAAAAAP! (dazzle must me nearby) and an idea for crystal maiden popped into my head. 40's style! \
