Fbx - because it works and everything supports it. I like collada if I'm going to be fiddling around inside files as it's xml based and thus easy to add/extract/change things with code.
Exporting all that data is not trivial. What's your goal? Do you plan to read it back in? Can you not use FBX Ascii exporter format? Or the built in Autodesk Collada XML exporter?
I don't see why you'd lose any detail. The masks are procedural and based on *.XML code - so you should be able to go up and down in resolution without any trouble. :)
Hmm, really impresive. In regards to a long distance rifle.. hurm, perhaps the L96 Artic Warfare rifle? Or maybe the FN FAL? (Yes, I like my old british guns. :P)
There's no need to edit the XML. Everything in there is adjusted in DDO. Do you need a metallic look in a diffuse texture? That's usually achieved by a combination of AO and color dodge to add a blurry highlight effect and some contrast.
If you like FL Studio, check out NanoStudio. It's mind blowingly awesome, the synth included is very very deep. There's no step sequencer like FL which sucks a bit, or native iPad support yet (although if you're Jailbroken you can run the 2x res plugin thing which will emulate native res) but it seems the perfect combo of…
