Wanted to practice my material skills today, so I made a CRT material with scanlines that are affected by the viewing angle by using a fresnel, and subpixels that fade in if moving close to the screen. Small breakdown, images and a video in the AS post. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/vv6yv
I think its time to do my own improvement thread :D , and since a need ti work on my anatomy which is practically nonexistent I decided to do a human skull to better understand the shape of a human head. Still a work in progress.
Hi everyone, This is another small project I do in my spare time for practice. Done with the hi-poly, LP and texture coming soon. btw, does anyone knows any auto UVs packing solution that allows you to group UV islands ?
Hey all.. starting a thread for a character design I'm going to take to 3D after a little while.. nailing down my design elements before I roll some max and zbrush.. plan to take it to a full render as well as create orthos too, for practice
I got a late start on the challenge so I didn't practice my standard workflow. I created this using Rhino, and rendered it using Unreal Engine using just basic materials.
So I wanted to make a cute milkshake as this weekend practice, doing this I found liquids and creamy stuff textures quite difficult for me atm. Made in Maya and Painter, Rendered on Toolbag.
For production purposes, it's totally common practice. It's incredibly useful for personal work as well. But your portfolio better demonstrate that you know how to do this stuff without using someone else's basemesh.
Ok thank you all. yes you are right for now I think it's better to use other people's concepts for practice and who knows maybe sometimes I will design my own =)
I little bit of an update, I reworked almost all of the character, and only have hair, eyelashes, and a pose to be finished. I will post the finished weapons later also, but they are practically done also.
Hahaha these are super :D Really great as practice. The generator makes you draw stuff that you havn't done before, it's really good to get out of your comfort zone. Good job!
