Dekard, your porfolio is sparsly textured. If you put together some nice renders of your textured environments and apply to a company that makes urban environments then you might get more takers. If you are willing to do that I will show one of our art directors some of your stuff. -R
I do remember hearing something like what you said when talking about 3d games for Nokias phones...they had some shit like that going on there, you had to separate all your UV faces or something, or the phone couldn't render it. Mad urban legend, I know :d
C++ is not hard language. Really. It's some urban legend created by Java programmers. Or I should say it this way. Every language is hard if you delving into it's tricks and hacks. And you do it eventually. For gameplay coding ? No in the long run I think C++ backed with framework and libraries will far better than US.
Greetings, the only thing I can think of is Urban Pad. I haven't used it but it looks like it might be what you're looking for. If its a manual approach you're after then it would be a case of blocking buildings out and reusing the same textures/assets where possible. http://www.gamr7.com/g2009/urban_pad
For the foreground, maybe some stylish signage would really help and bring the city to life, take a look at Rapture. Perhaps bring in some cars from that particular ear would give the viewer a better idea what the scene set up's like. Right it feel like any other urban city.
Tks a lot for all replies, really nice have this feedback, just opened my mind to figure out how the things could be, the project we'll work on have a lot of urban environment and 3rd person view like gta or no more heros more or less, but nothing similar. Thank you guys.
Depends. Any other benefits? Size of the company? Other compensation? Distance from home? The most expensive thing now is the cost of living in major urban areas. Your entire salary is completely gone just for housing, food, travel to work, etc. A lower salary in a small town might be better for you.
We use it over at Turbine as well, as do the guys at Mythic from what i understand. While i still have to get deep down into the software, it's already a huge help in seam cleanup, allowing you a lot of leeway when you're unwrapping. The interface is a little weird at first, and their brush engine feels a little unrefined…
alright so bake is finished (except for the turbine... i forget something every time) the landing gear maps still need some love in photoshop to make sure moving parts arent leaving ridiculous AO stains at their default position. Other than that im pretty happy with the results overall. One thing that i still do need to do…
well keep in mind when i say USA, i dont mean the people in USA or even the USA government - i am talking about big businesses that benefit from the wars that are caused by these conflicts. wars are started by business men, not presidents or politicians. presidents and politicians are just financed by the business men.…
