It's obvious that the texture on the two boards of the bench seat are the same. Either turn the board 180 degrees or flip the UVs around. Also do you have any reference photos you could post? I feel that the base of the lamp post should have some sort of design element in it to separate it from the mid section texture…
So had some time to revisit this scene and really improve on what I had as well as adding in some new elements. I will compile a list later of all the specifics but just comparing the new renders with my previous ones will give you an idea :) Here are a few quick screens right out of UDK. Critiques are welcome and I look…
To make this welding tool really useful I think you'll also want to support uv shells which do not share geometry vertices. Mirrored UVs are not the only overlaps. If you copy a mesh element around in your model that also creates UV overlaps. Wheels of a car for example. Keeping those overlaps linked together through UV…
Remember to keep your specular highlights white and all your shadows black. That helps a lot. A sign of the times was having 'chrome' applied to as many elements as you could too. Also try looking up generic tiling textures. As thomasp said, get yourself an old version of whatever software you use. Try only using the…
An architectural background shouldn't I would think preclude a crossover too game design, given that both disciplines share an aesthetic element conceptually speaking when generating their respective output/ideas. EDIT: I can't recommend a formal edu stream but there are online alternatives with industry accreditation, so…
^ well, no shit? Stuff like red banners just make it more bold than ever before. Your quote mentions red as 'recognized color of empire' but actually I can't recall any red elements besides emperor's guards and Vader's lightsaber. Was there any other red colored imperial stuff in original trilogy? edit: sorry, didn't mean…
The site should work no problem on any browser even mobile. It's using html 5 not flash and definitely no plugin download. Jquery is an essential element to html 5 which is why java would have to be able to run on your browser but that's pretty native to peoples machines. As more sites start to surface this year using html…
ah, than in the case of you have multiple things on 1 texture, you would need to make loop cuts, s you can spilt the UV's and stack elements. the extra geometry actually wont effect performance that much, i find i mostly run out of memory before i get slowdowns from having too many polys on screen.
i think changing the colors would go a long way. if you take a such special approach on uniform , other elements have to remain even more traditional to counteract that (to have enough of which is relatable remain), so I would choose a dark / blue-ish police like sheme with some blue and red maybe gold accents, something…
At least with Speedtree you are able to open an example tree, and see the raw meshes and textures that went into its creation, doing some backwards engineering. To me thats way easier to learn what components are necessary, if not easier than starting from an empty scene and stumbling through older methods. Speedtree…
