Depends on the scale of the things, really. But if 64 or 128 doesn't work, there is probably something wrong with your lightmap UVs then.

It is just a statue so it shouldnt have much need for asymetry plus the texture is only going to be 128. Thanks for the help.

@Obscura gave that a shot just now, tried baking with it set to 64, 128, 256, same results each time :/

yeah that's what i thought it was at first but all the static meshes in that shot have a light map res of 128. *shrug*

What I usually do is level the blue channel of the overlay to 128, and then set it to Soft Light blending mode. Good enough. :)

No, you can import rectangular textures too but you need the resolutions to be powers of 2. Like 64, 128, 512 etc.

maybe this could work: in photoshop: go to edit the blue level and set it to 128, essentially nullifying it. Again, not sure if this works, but maybe.
