Re: New to modelling, want crit! Building my first scene
After eating and thinking a bit, I decided on making a cornerpiece sorta thing of a wizards study, and I'll share my steps here in the hopes for critiques! Initial sketches of some objects I want and a first pass on the color scheme and lighting. Not sure if I'll do the dragon head on top of the bookcase or not ehehe.. -

Dude, somebody showed me that MGS one not too long ago, I had the same reaction as wester, it looked really good initially, then when I saw everything on the other side it blew me away. These are incredible! very inspiring. Fantastic work. Can't wait to see what the other 2 are :) -

Here are some initial ideas for the type of vehicle, not sure which direction to go in yet. I am liking the first one more, fits with the era/style we originally were thinking about. A lot of the details we will figure out when we get to modelling it. Next up the character concept. -
Re: Blender or zbrush
We would need to know what the limiting factor in your PC is, is it memory, CPU or GPU? But generally ZBrush can make sculpting on lower end setups a little more bearable. As for performance in Blender, dyntopo sculpting with "collapse short edges" should make initial rought sculpting a lot more performant. -

Use Maya mostly out of habit, but it's like a retarded puppy, I just can't put it down. Take this, I decide it needs more subdivisions, I could subdivide it and carry on, but I should be able to go back to the initial cylinder, increase it to 32, since it's 16 sides, and carry on. Maya disagrees -
