I heard James Cameron wanted Chuck Norris to play the Terminator. However, upon reflection, he realized that would have turned his movie into a documentary, so he went with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Yeah I am putting off the face till the last minute because it will be the hardest thing to do. haha We will be trying out Arnold. Heard some good things so we will see.
Lookssick man. What did you render this with? I know you said the hair is Xgen, so was it rendered in Arnold? Also, is all of that hair in the beard the same color, or are there grays and other colors mixed in?
You have Smooth Mesh preview on in Maya. You're previewing what two subdivisions of your model looks like. That;s probably why your mesh looks so dense coming into Arnold.
i watched the first 15 minutes and it is already much better. as far as i can remember they mostly just cut out all of Arnolds cheesey one-liners and made it an all action scene.
I agree with a lot of what you are saying but I think using that picture of Arnold is a problem. There are drastic differences between bodybuilder bodies and actual fighting bodies. Stick with fighter references, and not bodies for show.
Beware though, the Standard material uses the outdated diffuse-specular workflow. If you want to follow current (better!) surfacing standards, choose the Physical Material and Arnold renderer, and learn how to use PBR.
It's been awhile, but I remember being impressed working with Arnold. If I recall correctly, the PBR conventions from realtime had a lot of carryover. Definitely worth a look if you have Maya already.
i have another problem with arnold in maya... i want to instance a light but when i apply duplicate special to light nothing happen...only it creat a pivot without any object linked to it...
nearly every render has a data container to load objects only during render time... in vray its vrmesh proxy... in arnold its a standin... just convert the highres chainmail to a vray mesh...
