You should start experimenting with, or do some research on, warm and cool colors. :) These aren't random choices that artists use. They're very much designed to give the effect that you see. Often times they go completely unnoticed because they just look "right". When something looks "ugly" its usually because there are…
I like the first one personally, the hat is more Caitlyn-esque than the others. 3 looks too different and has very limited elements of Caitlyn in it from her Lunar Wraith skin. 4 looks like a MF skin and 2 has too many details I think. I don't see Mercy at all in 1.
What reference are you copying? Post it here. Or if you didn't use one, tisk tisk tisk! Best way to learn is to copy exactly a specific type of rock. Try different rock types that react differently to the elements. Also try doin cliff faces and other non bouldery types. TL;DR? Copy your reference!
All you need to know about art deco is this swingline speed stapler 3 I'm kidding, of course— do a lot of research too, and look at more than staplers— but I think it does a good job of distilling down the elements of art deco into a small object. I keep one on my desk as inspiration (and to staple things).
Aaand done :) Hope you like it! I tried incorporating some narrative elements, so from her backstory, this is when Irelia came back from the brink of death and she charged right back into battle with her father's blades dancing around her. 'The sword flourishes, as though painting with blood.' -- Taken from a Noxian Field…
Thanks for the crit Wes, Yeah so there really is no concept more of a style I have to follow so anything goes as far as modeling and composition. I think I will definately tackle the doors and signs next as well as some elements to make it look a bit more pieced together like corrugated metal and things of that nature.…
Really liked the concepts and moodboard so it's ashame she's beginning to give off that Angelina Jolie "Space Captain" vibe sans eyepatch. Not detective at all. The braces, shirt tail, hat, and tie would be elements worth putting back into your model. The mechanical arm could still work so definitely see what details would…
digs it ^^ Texturing phase should help break up the seperate elements heaps, bit noisy atm due to the one value on everything. Lookin forward to your detailin pass too, ding'ing up that armour :) Also yeh, the booties and loin cloth bits. Looks great man (wish diablo 3 would hurry up and release already) :)
I agree about the ceiling, and would look at the scale of the pool, depending on how closely you're sticking to the reference you posted. I'd block in the major foreground elements (the robotic arms, or whatever you're doing by the pool) and see how it plays with what you've got so far. Keep going, what you've got is…
These shots are so damn sexy...well done man. I've always loved how you guys integrate your architecture with your organics and terrain, but it's even nicer to see your smaller man-made elements like the trash, foliage and signage really give this place life as a living quarters as opposed to totally industrial and…
