Software questions go to this forum. Do you have a mouse with a Tilt Wheel? They always produce a delay in 3ds Max. Use the Arc Rotate Sub Object button at the bottom right of the UI and see if left clicking rotating works. Did you enable Maya navigation?
The manipulators problems are related to a Marking Menu bug, sometime Maya do not close it correctly. For fix just press and release Z button. About cut by plane is strange, I'm using only native Maya command. Can you give me more detail? TNX!
I've gotten some more work done the officer, but I'm running into an issue where I'm not entirely sure how to get nice crisp creases in the jacket sub-tool to show where the collar is flipped over and along where the buttoning is going to go. Any advice?
Simple feedback : make sure to have a "show all" button. This enables creative uses of the stamps, since more often that not, something can be used to great effect for something it wasn't intended for. You might also want to include the corresponding normalmaps to download - these can be extremely useful.
I guess I would just stick with keyboard hotkey macros, don't like talking to my PC and it feels slower than pressing buttons. Either using a keyboard with extra keys or one hotkey to start the macro tool and a second to start the macro I want.
Is there a way to make the status line at the bottom a bit more readable? For example, it says "Done" next to the persona button (bottom left) and the background is in light grey while the text is in white fonts. I can't quite read it as is. I like the top with the half greentooth though :D
Oops! I was just thinking as I clicked the post button 'i wonder if that was mentioned in the first post'. Looking forward to seeing how you go about it. Not least because I'm sure it'll be yet another valuable educational experience much like the majority of this thread!
Ummm...no. There's tools that can make it easier; third party plugins and such, but I have yet to see the "unwrap model and efficiently layout Uvs in texture space" button. If you're having trouble with specific areas, post some examples and I'm sure people will give you pointers.
2.5 should have the interface upgrades your looking for. In addition to a new file browser and redoing all the buttons and menu layouts, they are also planning to add better Python/UI integration so perhaps there will soon be drop-in scripts to customize the interface any way you want.
Ok, the real secret, play the Spinner tourneys... small investment, big reward, just for button mashing. And as far as normal FT, just cash out every time you get a 100+ over what you started with. Good way to hold onto your winnings.
