Some initial design ideas. Not really sure if i want to with the realistic style art or with the a more cartoony style like hearthstone. I am liking the idea of having some type of pirate themed marking on her face but it needs more exploration into different designs.
Then I must really suck! Not even a nibble, although I think my 7 years of experience not being in the gaming industry(ArchViz) is holding me from getting past the initial HR rep (I know some don't even look at my site).
Hrm, I linked em all from my twitter posts. Ill upload all the others from now on via Polycount. My twitter account is @paulkind3D. Im sorry for the difficulty. Ill also re-upload them. These are the greyscale initial model images.
So does it happen only with Smooth Mesh Preview? Can you check whether the same is happening when you smooth / subdivide the mesh? Personally I would do the UVs in the initial blocking stage. Then as i subdivide it, i keep checking the UV distortion.
Kind of going along with what Larry said, I think it feels kind of solid. You could push the flow and pose a little more, I think. Add some life! But I think you did a great job working from the initial image.
A few sheets of initial design. Great fun and a learning experience. Anything can change but it is a frame from which I can continue.....Lack of stylus forced me to use pen and paper and a relatives scanner! When I get home things will change:) [/IMG]
awesome work. me and my friends had so much fun playing this game when it was first released. what sort of changes did you guys have to go through between the first initial release for make something unreal and the recent retail release?
hey Fredh, Glad DW is happening. On the soft deadline thing. Judging by the initial reaction, no one likes the idea of the soft deadline, why not get rid of it? DW is a contest for the art community. The community wants a strict deadline instead of a soft one. Why not listen to the community?
I think I got it for the most part. Rotating the mirror is a touchy process. For some reason, half the time I mess with it, the mirrored piece just gets stretched around itself. Scaling the initial object at all distorts the mirrored piece when rotating as well.
I'm with husch. Unless you have to use physique, go for skin. Skin's initial weighting isn't as good and painting weights isn't as smooth as in maya, but it works about the same and is a lot faster than physique especially if you're used to maya's skinning system already.
