He was on the "solo race around the world" when his boat crashed onto the island. Oh and if you freeze frame the preview you can see that Desmond is in the episode. It is aterall a Desmond centric episode. -

still working on it :) the stock sucked so i made a "pistol grip". Also barrel and holo is bigger. Thanks Shrike! :D Now i need to spend a lot of time on texturing
