By the way, have any of you got experience with the 3DS Max graphite tools? I have seen some videos where people are retopoing using some of the functions there. What are the advantages/disadvantages it has vs the z-brush tools? Or is it just a matter of personal preference? Thanks again.
The cable functionality is the sole reason I bought the script set off Gumroad, however, since I'm using Maya LT, it doesn't even work, though the website says it works with Maya LT. You might want to remove that text from the site, to avoid further confusion...
I use Max alot aswell and love connect but with a bit of practice its easy peasey :) and its gotten alot better in the newer versions of maya. I can see instances where getting a connect function into maya would be awesome but for this I wouldnt bother with adding scripts
skirt, holster worked out. shrunk her horizontally 5%. started cutting in some of the major wrinkles. got rid of the silly cuffs i had. earring alpha planes. turned the gun holster to an actual functional position.. oh, and no more pastels :| /me trudges ever onward...
I was asking about how to do hair and fur well too. i think poop gave me a link that had some tutorials. see if the search function works here on the forums, or go to www.3dtotal.com and check out their tutorials, i think thats where it was located.
I'm loving the crazy detail, and mix of styles. I'd like to suggest that the top half of the train follow the style of the nose. Kept a bit more 'smooth', it might give the piece an interesting weight. And please please please let the boxy stuff on the bottom function as rockets? Spacetrainship, yeah.
i don't and never have used max though of course recognize the power of the modifier stack thing. would be such a no brainer for autodesk to drag that functionality over to maya's modelling kit. i commend your efforts here MoP. and wish you all the best in finding a good solution
You aren't using XP are you by chance? I just installed the updates from this week, and had exactly what you experienced with an ATI card, except it didnt recover. The machine was still functional since I could hear the music. Attempting newer ati drivers now.
Well I use physique for rigging, since I cba to learn skin at this point. I usually just rig half of the model though, then convert it to skin (plugin) and use skin's mirror function to mirror the weights. So yeah, what you're trying to do should be possible.
The thing that bothers me about the search function is that it only searches for posts newer than a week old by default. You have to change the "Date Range," which I always forget to do... then I have to wait for three weeks before it'll let me search again .
