[ QUOTE ] But you can't clamp coordinates and still use tiling? Maybe a better approach for architecture is to pick textures that only have to tile on one axis, usually x, and stack them on the other axis. That'd give you, say, 3 512s and a bunch of trims in one 512*2048. [/ QUOTE ] i love that idea =)
Make sure 3D snap active, not 2D or 2.5. Right click it and go to the options tab and check on "Use Axis Center As Start Snap Point". Why they have the default set to off I'll never know... screws everyone up the first time they try to use it.
Wire Parameters are what we used in GTA4, but lately I've been experimenting with Float Expression controllers instead - they allow easy clamping, so you can say rotate this bone at 50% of its parents rotation, but only between here and here. You can set up float expression controllers for objects to control their position…
Yeah some golden inlays on the doors and side would be cool and really push the decoration a bit as well as some curtains inside. Hmm one thing that is boggling me is how does it move the tires? I mean I know the steam is the power but where is the drive shaft that actually takes the steam and makes the axel spin and…
I'm a enviromental artist and I use max8. Here is a brief run down of my workflow. Most of my enviroments end up being large outdoor places. We do pre-rendered work but I always keep my scene low poly since it effects my render times. If you are new to max then I would say stick with the off the shelf packages they have…
Hey I was curious if any of you know how to convert maya Y up normal to Y down? Is there any way to flip maya normal Y axis to get it ready for a game engine? I hope I odn't have to reflip and rebake every normal layer that I created. Anyways here is an update. I errased more of the scratch layers out and also played…
just have the first snap magnet toggled..(the one with the 3)...un toggle the other one. Switch from vertex to endpoint...also make sure you turn off your axis constraints for the snap...also make sure your blue marker is turned on as well...it will show you where you will snap too....It also help to snap in the…
Per: 'Just make good art' lol In the end this stuff gets so damn anus bleedingly technical that 'Just make good art' 'and leave me the hell alone!' is really what this thread will boil down to for anyone attempting to see it through Bottom line for me at this point is that UT3 is out and you can see exactly what I did…
"This is the first videogame trailer that I've seen that was produced at the quality of movie production. I'm extremely glad to see this happening." You need to see more game trailers! This is the first game trailer that is as high quality as a CG movie?! Sure it was a well done trailer ( although personally I found the…
Interesting idea, Eric. I just tried that, it still gets the exact same problem in the exact same place on my wheel. The tesselation actually also makes the initial projection cage more accurate, although it's still better to Reset and just Push it back into shape. The normal map it generated also has slight irregularities…
