If you can demonstrate that you have capabilities and skills via a portfolio of high quality work when you graduate, they won't be held against you. If they were all straight As, they wouldn't help you, either. Grades are not relevant in a creative field, outside of the academic programs they qualify you for (scholarships,…
East, I'll just say this about the guy... anyone who wants to 'openly challenge his critics to a boxing match', and then tells anyone with actual fighting experience to GTFO, is all-bullshit. He's one of those 'creative a-holes' who willingly dishes out spite and criticism, but can't take it to save their own ass.
i don't understand what's going on. what does a TV channel have to do with making games? and if Sega can no longer make recycled football games, i guess it's time to put creative minds together and design new sports games. I haven't played a EA football game since the Genesis.
Eric you make a good observation, but I disagree with you. The best creative products come from collaboration. IDEO is a design firm that 'only' designs by committee. I think having your art test vetted by a industry pro is smart and if i was the person judging it I would in fact encourage them. -R
so giving people the creative freedom to copy a trade marked immage is grouds to be sued? thats bullshit.. if that's the case, you might as well sue me ahead of time, because i have the ability to model the hulk and have it look like him. SUE MY ASS BEFORE I CAN ACT! :O
When im driving. I shout, sing, random things to the radio or when its completely quiet. A car is perfect to do that when driving. Its pretty much soundproof when driving. Too much ambient noise for people to hear you. It seriously let off alot of creative energy in the car that way.
Agree with Pior. A working example, even a basic one, is a far superior start than going straight to the sculpts. Typically for a small team you'll want some game mechanics in place before you start concepting, it'll help everything flow a lot better when everyone is on the same page. The mechanics are rough, but the…
I think one item, no limit to character and a strong theme would be awesome. Arabian would be cool. No limit on hero would really open it up for creativity, but it would also be great for the workshop. Instead of 5 of us competing for that Wraith King Head piece. Also a great way for Valve to make some new item crates.
Great, if you come up with anything interesting feel free to post some shots! Its a feature that hasn't been used a lot yet so any feedback we can get on ways to improve it, and really just seeing the creative ways people come up with to use displacement mapping will be really valuable to us.
id advise more interesting angles on the objects, for example the verticle columns, you could add more edges and start pull them outward and start creating random panel like structures...get creative. also add maybe monitors or speakers, maybe get rid of that wooden table and do a touch screen display.
