It's an issue with the cage and soft edges, there's a few solutions, you could add an edge that goes through anything that has a lot of distortion, you could flatten the detail on the high poly so their less depth, you could make the cage be smaller/match the low poly better. There use to be a free video on 3d motive that…
Lots of gradients. You didn't mention smoothing groups (hard/soft edges I think they're called in Maya?) Maybe check you have them set up to correspond with your uv islands? If all else fails, isolate one piece and try to bake it out properly. Once you crack the problem you can fix all the other pieces
Yeah, damn artists would do everything wrong :) So we have a static inflexible IBL and PBR which gives us a headache when we need to make a workaround in case it's not exactly 100% physically correct evrywhere and all those artists for movies who have their own PBR version with gazillion ways to abuse and do anything they…
yeah the pencil stuff does look better, theres alot to learn when digital painting. My advice dont use airbrushes or soft brushes so much harder brushes often give better results, dont use black in your shadows so much. I have to agree with achillesian at this point the pencil/real media images look more appealing
Well its mostly going to keep happening until the games industry understands it is a soft target and gets real about data security and what it does to make money online. But all in all its going to be the shitty end of the stick for gamers until we all have wow style authenticators for everything built into your…
loving that one duncan and palm that would make a great lowpoly model! D4V thats looking great but I think the concept looks more sharp and angular and a lot of your forms are more soft and rounded. I finally got a few hours to finish the dishonored bust...not sure if the hat is not in the right spot or too small or…
Actually, the latest piece of concept art would make the boobs look rounder due to the shaping of the corset. Originally I was imagining soft cloth stretch over the breasts, but depending on the final design, I'll change (or not change) the mesh accordingly. Thanks for the feedback! haikai, interesting as in good? :P I'm…
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it only chanmged the falloff from having a soft shadow to straight black. We get vray from school and I got that installed. Tried changing from that to scanline, but that didn't do anything. The odd thing is we get it randomly in class. We got the same maxstart file ,but some get it and…
Those dudes look cool! Modeling wise I thought it looked a bit off until I saw that you made them in Zbrush, then it all kinda made sense. Shapes look a little blobby and soft, which look strange on hard-surface models. Will you be retopologizing in Max/Maya/Modo or something? The design of the enemy character looks…
You have what appears to be a general noise treatment run on the entire mesh making it look soft and blobby. Removing that and focusing on the shapes of the stones and putting in some more larger cuts would give it a better shape. Think less about micro detail and more about macro shapes ... get the large details and…
