Straight-Edge UV seams
This is one thing i've wondered for a while now. Although i've been unwrapping for years now i still dont figure how various maps like those seen in games like RE5 for instance have dead straight texture seams. I know how to straighten seams using polyboost or textools etc but why would you do this as surely its virtually… -

The Pelt Wrap equivalent is the Smooth UV Tool in Maya. UV Texture Editor Window > Tool > Smooth UV Tool A small UI element will appear next to your selected UVs, labeled Unfold and Relax. I think what Poir is getting at is that, the edges themselves don't have much to define them from the rest of the shape when you take a straight-on shot (what RTT does) of the tread there isn't much of a chance that it will pick up the inner sides of the tread. Yeah, UV Help is interesting. In my experience though, Deep UV has a much more solid relax than UV Help's relax. Believe me, I would avoid crash-prone Deep UV if I could, but UV Help doesn't work well with large UV chunks, nor with a selection within a chunk.
