Fingus: did what you said. And Mudbox came up to 50 million polys without any problem! hmmf.. Maya is where it is pissing me off. Cant even handle 50 000 polys :(
hm and for those big legs i think connection to body its kinda thin but maybe its just angle of render, and i agree with warxsnake its ammo box is small it reminds me on 50 call and 50 call is a large bullet
That's what I said. I think LOL and DOTA have 50 or so characters, so getting them all for $25 would be a 50% discount over buying them all separately. So, the issue isn't freemium. It's shoddily implemented freemium.
This is a rather odd comment. First off, what does optimally actually mean, and how do you come up with 50%? Secondly, if you're only using 50% of a 2K texture, you're using 1024x2048 worth of resolution, not 1024x1024, that would be 25%.
thanks for the replies. I'm aware of many of the tradeoffs, pros and cons of each. I was more curious as to which route is more often used in professional productions. If its 50/50 I suppose it would behoove me to have samples of each in a portfolio.
Ok I started putting more stuff into this... then I realized it was taking on a 50/50 shape ratio which I want to stay away from, so I'll be fixing that soon. Comments and crits are very welcome.
Just a quick play. I made him a little too pink but I reckon 50:50 might be a good compromise. I really hope you get to finish I really dig your character.
Some of the models are concepted/designed by me, some are a mix (50/50 concepted and just freestyled) and some of them had a bit more detailed concepts. Wouldnt say it goes faster with exact conceptart either tbh :)
Glad to see you are pushing this forward full on : ). I had a question regarding the 4% (0.04) base reflectivity. Is this the linear value? or the gamma space value? (Same for 30 -50 minimum value on the diffuse, is it 30-50 before or after gamma correction?) Thanks.
Yeah, I havent put any of the cancelled games on my CV even though its about 50/50 shipped and cancelled games for me aswell. If its a game that was made public before it was cancelled I'd say go ahead and add to the CV.
