I went to school and am now doing exactly this. Only with a large amount of debt. Save yourself the trouble. The hardest part of self teaching is finding the motivation to keep going.
Looks like a problem with normals. You can see the indentation at the upper part also shading weirdly. You need to reset your normals, don't know how this tool/option is called in Maya.
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/qJNJE2 The rainy night in the corridor of the Resident Evil Opera House in my fantasy is another huge project. I hope I can complete it smoothly. . . As early as 2021, I made the lobby part. At that time, I basically made assets according to the specifications of UE5. Now I have time to…
Hey! This is a Black Manta fan art, one of my favorites DC characters. I based the concept on the New 52 Aquaman comic (I really enjoyed the movie by the way) and thought this would be a good time to do this character. I sculpted it using ZBrush, I modeled some parts and Maya and finally, I rendered it using Arnold.…

Any CnC to help make this look better would be appreciated. Note: this is for a fantasy RTS game so it's gonna be fairly small and seen from a…

Not so much to see for now but I hope it will become a cool heavy robot :) The idea is to develop this sketch, insert Rumble next, with a charismatic attitude (tinkering some part of the robot or just looking at the camera,…
I think the flat one looks pretty nice for the most part. As you said, it's a hard texture to sell without geometry and the flat you have looks very good for the depth the ZBrush render has. Reminds me of Borderlands for some reason.
very nice work, I think the bloom is set a bit high and a few of the areas in shadow dont seem dark enough for example the main floor of the room almost looks evenly lit even though there is only direct sunlight hitting part of it
This is proving to be a great hand painting exercice so far! :D Refined the building some more, I started working on window textures and looked at a possible different chimney style (Not sure I like it yet) obviously some parts are still WIP, yet comments are always welcome.
