Yeah, specular can't be baked but I could use a masked per vertex specular as they do on Shadow Gun which is pretty cheap, combine that with baked normal and it would look great on iOS. Any ideas if it's possible anyone???
Here's a very basic blend that lets you paint vertex color for a weight. I imagine if there was a texture to act as a height mask, you could use some of the math nodes to properly combine it with the to only fill in recessed areas.
Just so everyone knows I am 100% against texture pipelines that require the user to store normal spec diffuse all in one .psd Also storing your spec mask in the alpha channel is a total fail.
Looks great! Great interpretation into 3d. Very true to the concept. The helmet / face mask looks like it's flush with the face though. I think there should be a bit of a lip there so it's more of a helmet and less borg. Welcome to Polyconut!
Also if you just want to paint, not sculpt, make sure RGB is turned on and Zadd/Zsub is off. You can also hide the polygroup, mask all, unhide so you can still see it but have it 'locked'
Started speedmodeling today, will try to post as many models as I can. First one: Custom Venetian Plague Mask (+- 1 hour) Sorry for bad quality, was a small render. Don't know where the noise came from.
Micheal Bay needs to watch the Spidey 3 trailer. This is just another example how Micheal Bay is fing this. He just needs to make a GI Joe or MASK movie to hose all the cartoons I liked as a kid.
thankd for all the comments guys. textures (diff, norm, spec, gloss & reflection mask) all got reduced to 1024*1024. think am gonna call this done unless theres anything anyone can suggest thx
Using the green channel of your normalmap as a mask for painted-in snow in the diffuse might also be a good idea. "DepthBiasAlpha" is an Unreal shader thingie, you won't find it in Max - might be a good idea to state software etc for clarity:P
Multitexture is the way to do this. Won't work in just a single texture, instead you blend together two textures tiled across the terrain, painting the mask to blend them where you want them. Great stuff Autocon!
