School threads are getting boring. You need honesty, hard work and a company of like-minded people in order to make it in pretty much any creative industry. Any school will provide environment for this. Expecting more from schools is a waste of time. It will never happen.
Great stuff Alex! Is it worth starting a new challenge now and if people want to keep submitting to this one thats fine. I didn't get chance to do much on this one but it would be good to start a new theme to get the creative juices flowing again.
Someone mentioned Rise of Nations (awesome), so I would also recommend Rise of Legends. The campaign is a wee bit weak sauce but its a bloody creative universe, great art direction, beautiful art, and an awesome score (yeah, I'm a score nerd).
sick weapon ^^ could maybe throw somthing around/onto the handle, it's looking pretty repetative atm, somthing to break up the monotony of it could work well (some stuff wrapped around where you'd hold onto it, or somthing more creative :P).
I do not do concept stuff, but prefer to kind fo block it out in 3d. i could make the effort I suppose. I am have plenty of ideas/creativity, but somehow find it easier to concentrate the the mechanical side of actually building stuff.
Yes, Per's right, everyone needs to learn this. That's why you should all enter the September Challenge http://boards.polycount.net/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=65795&an=0&page=0#65795 Lots of room for creativity, and the skills you need to know now.
I don't know what it is, but every time I open photoshop, any shred of creativity within me dies. Plus, I don't fucking know how to use it right, so that doesn't help. And that's why I'm still sticking with ms paint.
Yea, I figured I might be overshooting what an art lead should do, that's why I was looking for a little clarification, so if what you're saying is right it would definitely be an issue like someone else pointed out in the thread of him being sandwiched between multiple levels of leadership where it's easy for him to look…
**Quasi tangent/rant Warning** First: I think this is a failure of imagination and bigger-picture thinking. What is going on here has very little to do with America's "go-getter" attitude(which can only be a good thing, btw) and much more to do with an entitlement attitude, and the fact that we're all nothing more than…
