Haha nick cave funny comparison... thank you Lampoly for the kind words! No print or something its only a comic style parctice. it starts like a little funsculptingsession between a friend and me we take a theme and lets go... he is that one how makes the concept for the spongebug that i post here befor...i know that his…
Wow That's really looking great, awesome execution! Now the name of the hero needs to change :p @Bronto: I can see what you mean, although the only real simularity I can find is the tongue. The body is a lot less exaggerated for a real cartoon as well as the ears, teeth and gear. When I started I only used real reference,…
Well this is a refreshing sort of thread. Got a nice, honest sort of feel to it. I suppose the best feedback (or the best...start to feedback) I can give is the following question: Why have you never moved beyond cartoons? I mean, you say you never "got" beyond that point, but I mean why? Just draw something that's not a…
Please don't take this the wrong way. I wasn't out to trick anyone. My intention was to see how people react to 3 random screencaps of different cartoons at face value. I'm not against going deeper and discussing the color choices of cartoons in depth. That's why I'm on Polycount! I want to hear the academic and scientific…
chrisradsby - So I spent a day trying to play with different shader tutorials I found online, especially the half-lambert you suggested. I found that TF2 shader tutorial, but it didn't seem to work correctly for me. I would really love to do the half-lambert shader for my scene to make it look a little more cartoony... or…
Looking great dude. That sword rocks - if you have the polycount, I'd add back in that ring from the hilt of sword sketch #2 :D Feels like it's right on the border line of cartoon/TF2 territory but it's well enough executed that I think it should be ok. I'm glad you reworked the skull on his hat to be less cartoony - that…
Going to try and document my Substance studies for the foreseeable future. Am planning on doing 3-5 studies a week. Comments and Critiques are encouraged.
What exactly are you looking to achieve? At the moment your work is pretty consistent, though it all feels a bit flat and cartoony. I notice your profile says you work at Cartoon Network, so that may be what you're going for. The thing with that sort of work, for me, has always been that while it's entertaining as an idea…
Hello everybody, Decided to post over here at the lovely polycount forums I have seen some awesome works from everybody. I love the sketchbook idea. work-in-progress character.
Your model is suffering from two things right now. 1. Bad poly flow. You don't have any real edge loops which means two things, muscles and clothing do not end up looking real. Just because this is a cartoon doesn't mean you can ignore musculature, and second, it will not animate correctly. Heres some tutorials to help…
