Slightly related: Can max now rebake normal maps to another uv layout and 'rotate' them correctly in the process? Also for semi-automatic rebaking, here's s a script that worked out fairly well: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/remappsd
@sltrOlsson - I clicked the AAHalf to see the entire canvas before I framed it but it still comes out like that. @Skinpop - Oh man I love those reference pictures! Thanks for the heads-up. Here's some update - layout changed a bit haha.
The damaged buildings need a better silhouette. Play Uncharted 2 to get some good ideas. I like the brick texture I can not tell that it is tiled. Good start! A top down view would help to see the design layout of your level...
I've seen many websites and forums out there have a "contest" for people to redesign their layout, graphics, everything - and the "prize" is ussually piddly compared to the work involved. Meh, Something For Nothing is only good as a Rush song from the album 2112 - and even then, not one of their best.
KISMET! I don't know if I love it or hate it just yet. I've managed to get a boat moving back and forth from the ship activated by touch triggers.. yaay :) Also more or less completed the level layout, just got to get it working :)
Thanks! Well here is where the texture is at now, but we're not very happy with it so I will be redoing it: Any suggestions for how to improve it would be appreciated. I plan on adding some AO, first of all. Here's a different layout I might try, for example:
Update: Happy with the new layout thanks to Gauss for the paint-over!! now im gonna take my time in placing all the new items and propaganda. also thanks to all of you who have commented and shared your support! you guys rock!
I like the set layout, very clean and simple. I'm not so sure about the UDK section though... Right now you just have a massive quote and a single image... I would cut that section until you have more to show.
I voted for traditional painting. I'd join in. I was going to do that for the GA Dreams and Nightmares. If side scroller wins, I'm not gonna do a beat em up. ;) But I have a side scrolling shooter (contra like layout) in mind that I'd build.
I'd like to just continue sculpting in details and variations after I have my initial brick layout, dropped and tilded around. But the best way is projecting a grabbed displacement map over a new plane would get me back into sculpting mode?
