Thanks for the input. I'd gotten the same impression about layer names not being easily accessed when searching around for a solution. I might, instead, export out both subtools as FBXs to Maya and see if there's any way to export out the blendshape names from there. -

Man....even if you do agree with this guy, one would wonder, why should game dev field be the only exception here?
