Even if you could sculpt it to a high fidelity (which would be difficult) I can't imagine the printer being able to handle it. Fibremesh could do it but again you probably couldn't print it. @AtticusMars suggestion of just using a real-world prop sounds like the best solution.
While doing the hourly freelance gig search: http://www.makerbot.com/careers/ Concept artist position must be new cuz I saw it from another site and it's not on their official career page yet. Makerbot dudes, the 3d printer guys! But you'll have to find out how to get to Brooklyn, NY.
For my entry, I'm sculpting the Shadow Blade. This seems simple enough for you other artist but I'm choosing this model so I can show off some of my prowess with electronics and finishing. I'm sculpting the base model through Fusion 360 then will print on my own printer before eventually loading it into Shapeways.
Fidelity yes. Scale...mmm likely not. This is for a miniatures game so, 28mm? My concern isn't whether the crap will be visible with the naked eye, but how it will affect the printer. And no I have not yet asked the print company for an analysis...been trying to get it as 'finished' as I can before I submit it.
Okay well it's decided then, the current gen of ps3 slims seem to have extremely noisy disc drives by today's standards. I much prefer the constant hum noise coming out of my 360 than the random electronic printer noises that come out of the ps3 when it seeks on the disc.
These are really awesome and you really captured the Insomniac style in each piece. Also the colors you went with a perfect! I think my favorite one is the turtle like creature. Thanks for posting these. Also an after thought these would be awesome as if you where able to print these out on a 3d printer.
I'd like to do a standard logo badge , you can consider that it will happen. I'll talk to my printer this week. but I'd also a like to do a set of Polycounter Merit Badges too. A "UV-ing" badge. A Box Modeling badge. A Sculpting badge. Like the Psychonauts badges, but for Polycount :)
Here's mine. The PC, a 6-core i7, is tucked under the desk while the 5.1 speakers are around the room. Apart from that, nothing special. Intuos4. Cintiq. 3 styli. A bunch of flash disks. A printer/scanner. A small handful of my figures. A Freddy Krueger doll. And a lot of junk cubbied away. :)
http://www.pcmoddingmy.com/content.php?review.220 First result in Google for [Review Radeon x850 GeForce 6800]. I've used Google to find out about the differences between Athlon 64 cores, mainboards, printers, graphics cards, etc. Just add the word review to the name of the product or product group.
Do some time at a place like FigurePrints in Vancouver. Even if the pay is probably same as working in a McD. Planning to take an airbrush workshop in the fall to help my "dream" come true. Wonder if they need to use some 3d app like Solidworks for their printers. [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw82KSzvkAs[/ame]
