I didn't see any overhang, except where they had vertical cliffs, which look like custom meshes. The vast majority looks like heightmapped terrain. Looks to me like they started with that, then split and edited by hand. But yeah, would love to hear a breakdown from the source. -

thanks for the response.I will look into maya will it keep the materials and bounced lighting and all that in the filse sequencially rendered images? I ask because I never rendered out anything moving before. (except a zbrush turntable) I understand you can compile images in after effects or whatever. -

Good so far, except maybe you;re using existing UVs? Need new flat-to-the-world UVs. Select the face model, add a UVW Map modifier, and set the Alignment to Z. May need to rotate it on Z axis, depends on the direction of your gradient map. -

Throwing my hat into the ring. Did a quick Colour Block Out and a Block out in 3Ds max. Nothing sinister or out of the ordinary in this place. Just an old man's basement. Except I only had a Alien to use for the scale ref. But he has wrinkles... that counts right? -

Thanks :) I didn't put up any screenshots of the vista because I just didn't have time to work on it as much as I would like. But everything you see in the map was recorded and will be included in the tutorial (except some minor blueprint work that I did afterwards for the demo) -

It looks awesome, except the first thing you see is that boxy warthog. Its exactly what people like to hate on, the lack of change from previous versions. and they put it right at the beginning of the trailer. pretty stupid. Its still designed as though it should be made of 2000 tri's. grrrr... -

19th. I want to start the new week on Sundays. The first week was an exception cause I was excited to start it. And yes. Currently talking with a few guys about what to do next week :) it will be more challenging. And hopefully I can break it down into chunks and make everyone happy. -

I'm an Egyptian , and yep This guy looks egyptian , except for the eyes ... Most egyptian have black or brown eyes , there are some who have greenish eyes .. But i've never seen greyish :P and i agree with he others , the back is wierd. Great work keep it up :D -
Re: What is typically more expensive?
I haven't tried it, but I'd hazard a guess tessellation is more expensive. Literally no game I know even ships with it. The only exception is Gran Turismo, and it uses adaptive tessellation. I recall an artist here who worked on Thief (2014) and said they used POM for some parts.
