Just make it look good on a budget. You can be the most creative person in the world, but it will be all for naught if it looks like you spend 10 seconds blotching everything in PS.
Solid start. The room layout gives lots of options for creative lighting. The leverage from those chains feels wrong. What are those attachment points, why are they so rubbery?
Thanks for your comment Pixelpatron Yep concept was redesigned also as this is a project for uni we are allowed to changed the model and use our own creativity as far as our lecturer agrees.
have a look at creative crash, to my knowledge Python is fairly used for rigging in Maya. It took over Mel scripting years ago. http://polycount.com/discussion/166856/www.creativecrash.com
Your best bet in Maya is to make an ao shader and drop it on your model then bake. I think I saw a script at some point on creative crash that simplified the process.
If you haven't seen it, Adobe bought Maximo, so it looks like it will become part of CC subscriptions. http://blog.mixamo.com/mixamo-joins-adobe-to-bring-3d-to-the-creatives-of-the-world
Thanks. He dipped the hair all by himself It's really cool seeing kids get into art, seeing the creativity bloom. Show us more macro shots... love the grasshopper.
Its a good way to practice your environment work as well as your speed. Good thing about this test it gives you a good bit of creative freedom with the overall look of it.
You can still showcase design skills via kismet. I've seen some crazy student reels using it. But again, gotta be real creative around those limitations.
