Nope. Not there either. See this. http://www.reactor3d.com/ Xbox live, iphone and any service where you are stuck going on through one and only one method of getting your items to your customers, and the "store" gets to choose what is and isn't acceptable while sucking up your profit margins.. sucks.
By the size and position, I'd say this monitor has been kicking around for a good few years and features a grubby hand print from a very young Alyx from when she was playing behind the desk. Suddenly he's got a (probably accidental) history for the most generic of items in his scene.
Do you mean render in layers? Are you absolutely sure it is your treads? Have you troubleshooted this item specifically? Are you sure it isn't a specific shader you are using? Maybe you're BSP setting needs some adjustment. Run a render diagnostics to see what initial errors it returns.
where is the hinge and latch and all the nice shapes from the iconic UMP stock? view more refs and dont rush! who cares? people are all different in the speed that they progress. slow down and make a few really nice items before trying to speed up anything. technique over speed!
I agree with vig, I'm more into things made from tomatoes, really not a fan of the item itself. I even go the extra mile to protect others from tomatoes, like when I go to subway and get tomatoes on my sandwich, then pick them off and throw them away.
to spite all the harsh critiques so far, I thought it wasn't bad for an early beta. animations, more items, and some better camera code would really go a long way to improving this game. Please keep us updated because I'd like to see a more polished version!
Thanks Bartalon - yes I realise I should have deleted history (and also a backup would have been good) - I normally do but was being far too carefree - I hope I have learnt a lesson if nothing else! I will add this as a menu item - thanks for taking a look.
A small update, I've made the low-poly mesh (7829 tri) and baked the normal map. I did not implement the in-game Info page yet (where you can rotate & examine any item), but hoping this level of detail will suffice for a one-man indie game :poly131: Here are some shots:
I tried May's Flamethrower challenge and recently finished although a bit late :/ and was hoping for another item project before doing an environmental but I guess not. I will try my best and do this as my first environmental project. I will post my progress and most likely ask for help on this. Tally-Ho!
And here is most of my pass on the modeling, I decided to take items out to make the composition work better and also changed the lighting to push the focal point. Just so you're aware, this is really kinda the first big/complete projects I've done in 3D, so feedback is most definitely welcome!
