Finished up the matte. Still might tweak some things as I add the final effects and stuff to the scene. Overall, the scene is maybe 75% there. Still need to texture the writers, finish the wall and model/texture the guard tower :E and the actual matte texture:
Hmm on the first look iit seems that your edges on the high poly are to hard so that the geometry didn't bake out that nicely onto the lowpoly. Also what are all those extra vertices for? looks like you just could remove 75 % of them.
Yeah, I thought the subscription was fairly cheap, about £75 per year to keep up with the latest versions? That's a huge saving over spending £3000 to jump 3 years from max5 to max8. At least, I think that's how the subscription thingy works...
Hi All Some of you probably know already but for those that don't 3DBuzz has posted 2 video tutorial on You Tube which serv as an introduction to ZBrush - http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=3DBuzz Theres about 75 minutes worth there and it looks like more are planned
isnt this a case of monitor calibration over photoshop being wrong? once 127/50% grey is gamma reversed its going to be 50% grey in linear space. if you manually correct it to 187 its going to be 75% grey in linear space. my brain hurts :/
Hey, Ged, sorry for not replying sooner. It is indeed SketchUp. I've basically stopped working on it in SketchUp and imported it to 3ds Max and am probably 75% done with a high poly model. I did this in SketchUp just to quickly (or not so quickly) rough out the shapes and stuff.
I got 75$ and a CthulhuD20 roleplaying book, as well as a sweater and a comic book from my cousin who works at Dark Horse. I also got to see family that lives far away/do not see them often. All in all, good time.
Lighting update: I feel like it's 75% there, but I just can't get it all the way. Tried setting up a 3-point light system. I've got the mesh set to rotate via Kismet, which is how I took the screenshots. Whatcha think?
Isn't there a lot of competition in this field? I bet he could find someone in india or polen to do it for $10/h or so? And yeah it's a one person project, he has done all the work and is financing the whole thing, $75 is out of the question i believe.
BA in computer science. Currently in a position that is starting to receive funding, and have a job offer as well. Was the degree worth the $75 grand? Hell no, but did learn quite a bit. As for the job offer I have now, that is thanks to a very dedicated teacher and the help of his networking.
