Hi folks. in 3ds max 2011 when I set the transparancy to 'none' and the viewport to smooth+highlights+edged faces+hardware I can't see the wireframes anymore. They show up fine with simple or best transparency though, only transparency doesnt work right then. Would anyone know how to fix that?
I'm loving this game...High Moon Studios has just resurrected my childhood - didn't think it could recover after Michael Bay ripped it up and spat on it. If anyone knows where to find model sheets and/or models/wireframes - I'm dying to find them short of calling them up and begging :)
Yes I turbo smoothed the ao version, just that one part I was working on. evenually I will smooth all the parts that need it and I test frequently how the parts will sub divide in zbrush. I just wanted to show my wireframe in the lower poly state so it wasn't so heavy
I would like to see some wireframe on that. Also one thing that should be incorporated better is the R2D2, right now it looks like he sticks to much out, also the edges arround him should be tighter. But nice highpoly, some smoothing errors here and there but nothing to serious, should be easy to fix.
Think you made a mistake with your first image link. Unless your katana is an oscar winning movie :P If you want crits your best off showing a few angles of the wepons and some wireframes are always a bonus. Edit, ok the first images changes everytime i reload the page.
Could be a smoothing group issue (Max) or soft/hard edge thing (Maya). Could also be some bad baked ambient occlusion overlayed on your diffuse texture. It might even just be the nature of polygonal shading. It's kind of hard to tell, a wireframe image might help. What app are you using?
Pardon for the quite ambiguous design of the Alien, I know it may be leaps of what some may presume to be Alien. Here are some shots of the wireframe: I definitely know that the wires could've been distributed better, feel free to point out exactly what would've been better distributed. Thanks for the critiques.
Hey man it looks really good so far. I'm glad to see another maya user giving this a stab. I'm really curious about your render setup....mind sharing secrets? And check this out http://mayastation.typepad.com/maya-station/2009/10/smooth-wireframe-rendering.html :) hope that helps
NICE! Leaps and bounds each time you post! I am really starting to get a sense of the material the pants are made out of. It looks like a thick kind of plastic or canvas. Really good stuff. Glad to see the detail level actually goes up when you shut off the wireframe =)
wow, this is a good thread... its a nice idea to start it! as for setting up a wireframe for render: In 3ds Max, u just need to duplicate your model, and apply the 'push' modifier with a value of 0.1 to make it "ever so slightly larger" and then add a material to it with the 'Wire' checkbox ticked. This is how i do it…
