This is what I'm trying to say. I bought Marmoset, I do like it a lot, but I don't do a ton of props that in my opinion are worth looking at by themselves and would generally be accompanied by AT LEAST a few props. I love Marmoset, but these things we ask for are not a total game engine, just making it something use-able…
Depends on the game engine. Which one are you using? Often an engine will have an example character model, which you can use to figure out the best initial scale. Scaling is often done in the game engine, and is usually fine. You just scale the root node, or specify a scale to use when importing. However scaling in your 3d…
@Dev_Bennuii Thank you! @Saaamoth Thanks for the kind words. Since the release of Unity 5, the engine has improved immensely in terms of potential graphical power. And it seems that it will continue improving, with features such as Vulkan support and Mixed Lighting modes promised for the upcoming 5.6 version. I definitely…
You got some weird things going on dude. Make sure your are completely done with your main mesh before you split it off to make the blendshapes. Delete history and freeze transforms first. No more topology changes (obviously), no UV changes etc etc. Duplicate your mesh, isolate and do your changes. Rinse and Repeat. Also,…
If you are talking about Torque Game Engine Advanced then I suggest you post on the Garage Games forums under the artist section. Not to many people on here use Torque and the majority of those who do dislike it, the best place to find artists who use it on a regular basis are on the GG forums. So in other words this is a…
If you compare Max-generated tangent-space maps with ones generated from identical meshes in the Doom3 engine, you'll see subtle differences (I recall Eric Chadwick mentioning something about different bi-tangents on the lowpoly mesh or something?) ... is there any way that some sort of "standard" could be set for how…
I disagree - I think the average joe would look at those two screenshots and not be able to tell the difference. And for those of us who can tell the difference - we should not be surprised that it's different looking. We should all know that you have to make compromises as a game comes together and gets closer to ship. We…
What app, what engine? Pics would help, if you can, especially of the bones and the mesh deforming oddly if that is the issue. Possible solutions: - Could be a triangulation issue? If you are working in quads or have polys with more then 2 tris then you should check the flow of the invisible edges. Fixes are app/engine…
@MikeF: Custom iPad engine, that's cool. I didn't mean to imply that you weren't going about this the right way. It's just that sometimes people get funny ideas about optimization and take it too far. I wish I had more info to offer, I haven't done any "low poly" stuff in a long time. I think you'll end up having to…
Hey Joe, I just wanted to offer a couple of pieces of advice regarding your resume': 1) Lose the Blockbuster stuff. Industry people don't really care about your work history prior to any games industry experience. 2) Buy an Unreal Engine 3 game that comes with the editor and learn the new engine. No one uses Unreal 2…
