what sort of embroidery do you want replicate? military goldwork or something pastoral? do you have any experience of working with embroidery /textiles in real life? I'd suggest learning abit about couching, satin stich and french knots and there's no better place to learn about stuff like that than these books by the…
@rexo12 : I have to admit I'm not very familiar with Substance, I know it can be used for photogrammetry, I have seen quite a few articles about it. I'd rather link to these than have to change my whole workflow which already works just in order to use Substance. Again, I'm not saying Substance would be better or worse…
Oh, nice. This is looking really good. This reference has a different handle so I think you basically got it. Also, I was wondering about the roundness of the edges but this gun reference has rounded edges-looks really good there. I am seeing some noise around the base of the gun too-which you could easily fake again with…
Awesome job, Clinton! Despite being a big fan of Chromatic Aberration, I think it's a bit strong. If you want to get a softer feel, look into the Circle DOF. It replicates(or tries to) a physical lense, so with some tweaking you can get really a really subtle DOF effect without it actually feeling like a gamey DOF. As far…
@PixelSuit Hi thanks, from my research that I did in the area, the ruins were originally built from different types of sandstones, so I'm guessing it is just a colour variation of nature, currently unsure if I will incorporate it into my environment , but will make a nice break up of all the green. I did orginially plan to…
Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Hopefully it works by improving the presentation. The next time I go to town I'll update my blog with a portfolio section, I might try to replicate the ArtStation format, or alternatively just use ArtStation. I tried now to make a jpg only page by editing HTML with my Android LG, but…
Really nice work. I think everything looks pretty good so far, some things could use a bit of an extra push. In general your wood textures I think are pulling this scene down. On the table and the cupboard they look fine but everywhere else they look far too 'streaky' and there is so much contrast in your brush strokes…
My own test project, a shader ball. I'm wanting to use a shader ball to replicate shaders from DDo (as seen in 3Do) in 3ds Max, tweak the workflow and materials and try to get something that is reliable over and over without having to do much tweaking initially. I'm trying...well wanting to build a VRaymtl with all of the…
So you're trying to match a camera to a image? Camera Match in max is your best option but it only works on uncropped images and will never work with hand drawn concept art. You can look it up in the help file and it has some detailed info along with how to use it. I'm sure google has more info on it too.…
One possible approach to create scattered debris decal textures with perfect masks normals and ao (even diffuse and specular if you go to that extreme) all in one go, would be to model them out then render to texture using a technique Slum went over in the Best workflow for gravel-roads? thread. It's a lot more work up…
