Hi all, I'm trying to bake a normal map in 3dsMax but the result I'm getting is absolute horrid! I'm pretty sure my smoothing groups and UVs are setup correctly (seams on hard edges), there's no overlapping UVs and I've exploded the mesh when baking. Can't seem to do it working, I've tried xNormal and I get the same…
You can also try changing the Key Tangents to Step or Linear, then add a new key immediately after the roll, to reset the rotation to zero. If there are no frames between the rotations (and no motion blur!) then there won't be a hitch in the motion.…
Awesome work, loved shader fx, havent tried any newer versions but it was always a blast figuring out what all the nodes do and how to use em to make some nice shaders. I hope its not bad to have the hopes up for a ShaderFX integrated 3dsmax version one day in future...
Oh, that's interesting. So you can maintain several separate objects in 3dsmax then, and it'll come out as one solid object at the end. So does it only print the outer shell? Or does it print one solid form for the whole thing? I mean, can you have the figure be hollow, or is it always solid?
FX shaders don't work with offline renderers (any of the stuff in the Rendering menu). If you want to "render" the viewport out to a file, open the Tools menu and choose one of the Grab Viewport methods. http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/files/GUID-02B83BCD-6621-4F0F-878B-9781A07C996E.htm
Screenshot? What does the wireframe look like? Have you tried using a standard unwrapping workflow? For example, look about 1/3 down this page for "Example: To use Peel Mode" http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/files/GUID-EA10E59F-DE7F-497E-B399-6CF213A02C8D.htm
Just checking back in to say this thread convinced me to switch from Avast to Avira, but after a few days of annoying nag windows it tossed up, plus it found a false-positive on one file in my 3dsmax directory that avast and spybot both say isn't a trojan, means I'm back to avast now.
Because some studio's use 3dsmax, and others maya? or XSI, or whatever! same goes for zbrush and mudbox It might do the same thing, but diffrent studio's use diffrent packages. you have to adapt to the package the studio your working uses. they have built all the export tools etc to that specific suite of programs.
A Mac is hardware from Apple. Generally it runs Mac OS, but for the last few years you install several operating systems on them. I can boot my mac into Apple OSX, Windows 7, or into OSX and run windows 7 in a virtual machine as windowed or fullscreen. I run 3DSMax in a window in OSX.
Hey man thanks for your comment! :) I just model it all out in 3dsmax, no sculpting or anything. Though I would like to sometime get into sculpting for more organic pieces like cloth and etc.... someday! Starting a small 4 piece prop scene study. Finished the hipoly cart for said scene.
