Its not Maya 2016, just the 2016 fbx exporter. You could select an older year. Also make sure the fbx exporter does not have Split per-vertex Normals checked as that will cause hard seams on your lowpoly.
This looks great, man. I'll have to check this out. Even the intro free part is helpful. I totally modeled myself into a corner on my recent project with no good way to translate that into lowpoly, so I clearly need the help.
Does DDO Unwrap your lowpoly? Normally I sculpt, decimate, clean up the topology and unwrap, then bake. Rocks are one of the few things decimation works pretty well on but I still normally have to do some cleanup.
Two immediate things that come to mind:* Is polypaint turned on prior to the projection? * does the new (lowpoly) mesh have a current texture map applied (this wont interfere with the projection, but it would temporarily override the display of the polypaint until it is turned off).
Thanks alot for the help. The thing is i almost never do any thing that is super demanding. I create lowpoly stuff and to hand painted texture painting and stuff. Will i even get any benefits from using Cuda?
I gave this a try in max 2010 and you are correct- max will not bake an object space map without a projection modifier. You could duplicate your lowpoly model, assign that to the projection modifier, and then use a very very small cage.
Chantel-sky: thanks!! Not getting as much done as I would like to ;( I hope I can finish this on time... not so sure about that D: Anyway!! Here's the lowpoly and the staff. Altogether 7820 tris at the moment. Now baking~
Hello guys .. so .. here is one more update .. i did the retopo and bake .. this is lowpoly + AO mapa only .. i need to fix some folds befero to start the difuse map. i hope u like as far..
Hi All, This is prop I finished lately. Type Geiger Counter DP-66 in google if you would like to see how it looks on photos. Lowpoly in Blender, Highpoly Zbrush, textured in Substance Painter. Any critique about texturing, renders is more than welcome. Thanks in advance!
I know Mudbox has the feature allowing you to export the screen to a PSD and skin that way, but is it possible to make the changes appear in an unwrapped texture file? How can I do this? Also, how do I get my low-poly to appear with a skin in Mudbox?
