here is a t-shirt I recently made using MD, Topogun and Substance designer. Its the first time I have actually exported an item, retologised it and exported it to Unity, I can see lots of areas which need improvement such as the collar around the neck line etc. I have done lots of work in SD, and lots of stuff in MD but…
Update #1 I did the first three steps and I learned that UVs in Marvelous Designer aren't based on the 2D arrangement. It didn't make my life harder since there's an UV Editor withing MD. I'm working on step four. I've imported my simulated mesh in ZBrush and noticed that the geometry isn't really nice to sculpt on. So, I…
Is this what you need (select all objects and run)?: $objs = `ls -sl -fl`; for ($obj in $objs) { select $obj; ConvertSelectionToFaces; $buff = `ls -sl -fl`; polyProjection -ch 1 -type Planar -ibd on -kir -md b $buff; } select $objs; TextureViewWindow;
Alright, still going! I'm still tweaking the anatomy and soon I'll jump into MD to begin the clothing. I'm starting to get a good tough girl look in her face. I'll be taking a week off for the Holidays. More will be posted as soon as I get back.
I really love the painterly feel of this. And the color scheme of the clothing -- subtle but really pleasing. Do you mind if I ask, do you make the underclothes in marvelous, then put the belts and straps over it? Or just get the big hanging parts in MD, and sculpt the underparts?
Thanks all for the comments :) Started blocking in the face/ anatomy. Using Imogen Poots for ref, she's got a tough face... so I appreciate any feedback ^^ Next up will be finishing off the anatomy so I can start creating her clothing in MD!
Apologies that I never got around to doing more in-depth MD videos, but with newer versions of the software, I suppose the game has changed a bit anyway. I hope you found the resources you've been looking for. I see that Digital Tutors has also added some MD training, which is great. I'm hoping to create a few new videos…
thanks a lot for the tips MD, but i think i'll pass on the texturing of this piece for now. dont think my texturin skill is up to mark right now, certainly a project i'll take up a few weeks or a few months later. thanks to everyone for ur support. :) :)
That's not how 3d works :) That would require a real-time or baked dynamic soft body/cloth physics simulation. You'll have to do it manually using move topo brush, or MD if you have access. Hold alt when using the move brush to constrain to normals.
MD result is much better, and waaaay faster too. I found a step by step tutorial at patternmakerpro.com that shows how to make these military BDU style pants. I used a different avatar to build them, so some sizing and fit is in order, but overall this is really good.
