Here it is, 3 weeks later. I learned a lot from this project, like thinking more about texel density earlier and locking down cameras for beauty shots during the blockout to be able to focus on the right details and composition elements. I had a lot of nice feedback from great past students of the school. Thank you! Next…
finally finished with the blockout, i made alot of ornaments for this one,and the textures in SD.This will propably be the final layout. I could propably do things a bit better for efficiency, but since i'm at home, i can get away with it. All lighting is static and will be improved as i introduce more props I also…
Basic setup of modular element is done, next step I'm going to go crazy doing a blockout of all the different elements that will help transform this from a boring empty warehouse to a fun game environment. If anyone has a link to a forum post or tutorial on how to do some cool god ray kind of light coming trough the…
Cheers guys, prefer the one on the right too. Not much happening at the action shot yet still thinking about what to do with it. 2 dioramas a bit overkill for my taste, would rather would invest just time in one and make it really shine. But thats the rules for now =P. anyways character blockout, gonna be a lot of straps…
Did a bit more blocking out, added extra geometry here and there as Tobbo suggested :D I'd have done more but works been pretty busy and I've had no energy when I get home recently, so I'm planning on doing huge push toward moving past the blockout stage this weekend! :) Let me know your ideas and suggestions!
Great start! I'd simplify the scythe's detailing a lot, as it reads as a bit busy (and mushy), but the silhouette seems spot-on. A tip I got recently, that's really useful for nailing down the concept early on: start adding colours sooner rather than later. I now add coloured materials as early as the blockout phase, and…
Here is today's progress sofar. I feel like I'm moving super slowly but I'm definitely getting in to all of the short cuts already. Can anybody spot any major flaws in the blockout? I think I'm going to leave all of the roof slats separate for mudbox and make one shape out of them after sculpting. Thanks for the maya help…
Really cool so far! One thing I noticed was that she has a pretty flat head in the concept and you had that down in the initial blockout. But adding the hair has kinda given the head more volume than that. The horns are also extending a bit farther back from where they end in the concept. Now if you're doing that…
I been suuuuper lazy and didn't get nearly as much done by the weekend as I wanted do. But in any case, I've got the initial blockout done with some work on the front cowl. Since I'm roughing everything out and building it using smoothing groups instead of doing real hard surface modeling, it goes pretty quick to get some…
December 19 Realistic wood study, and then a stylistic paint-over Gene Starwind's Caster from the anime series Outlaw Star. I will be turning this into a portfolio piece so I'll be working on this for the next few days. Currently I just have a general blockout of most of the parts, no complex dynameshing or sculpting just…
