This one by SideFX was pretty decent (by internet tutorial standards) I thought. Sure, it doesn't go in-depth over every item on the shelf or interface, but you get a good feel for how the program works and can experiment from there.
Just make an armory! You can make multiple weapons, knives, grenades, etc. Plus tables, racks, trashcans, bullets, and a room to house it all + lighting. A full scene that contains the types of items you are interested in making.
I lowered the lightres on all items and it's now 561mb so still not ideal but I don't know what else I can do to lower the size. Sky has no lighting or shadows selected like you said.
yea, a complex item like a gun can be a bit much to learn on - Id say start with something super easy so you can focus your time on the textures... an ammo box or metal crate are always winners :)
Here's some really nice references: It's an SL8 so some things are slightly different (in fact, almost everything except the furniture is different), but it should be helpful http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=164516325 gunbroker is a wonderful resource
In some ways. Thank god.. Some of the items they choose too add the music suxsored. I wouldn't want my *music backing up some low bar things I have seen. *If I were a musician that is.
I think you're foliage transition from the grass to the dirt needs some blending and work, I would also be careful with clipping items such as the rocks and the roots from the ground as they can cause a harsh texture pop as well.
unfortunately the voting form doesn't have that kind of capability. It's one vote per user per item. What I'll do is make two threads; characters and scenes. Anyone entered a character and scene will be entered into both threads.
Hard to say anything without knowing much about the game. What kind of items would you be fitting into the GUI? I think the map is nice as it is, but should be more translucent so you can see the action better.
I have a dropbox folder that I organize to my needs. I've set it up in a way that helps me navigate it quickly in terms of the items I usually try to find when I am working. Is that what you mean?
