What version of max are you running and what version is the file? It sounds like you're using an old version of max(2010 or lower) to open a newer file(2011) did the DVD also include other file formats like FBX or OBJ?

Well last version of udk when I select FlatTessallation the preview goes crazy and in game too. But when I go to the game and switch to the editor works fine, I close the game and other time crazy. Hello I tried this with max 2010 and 2012 I don't know why some bones are broke like this?! I just started a test with some bones and a box all is scale 100% and I get this :/ bone's lenght is around 2cm Any Idea? Thanks! :)
